| Learn about the exciting career of veterinary nursing Veterinary technicians primarily function as professional technical support to veterinarians, biomedical researchers, and other scientists. They are sometimes referred to as veterinary nurses Today there are over 150 veterinary technology programs in the United States that educate veterinary technicians. In order to maintain a standard of excellence these programs are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. The course of study in these programs, leads to an Associate of Science or equivalent degree with four-year Bachelor of Science degrees available at some institutions. The Rhode Island Veterinary Technician Association wants to teach you all about being a veterinary technician. Come to our career night and hear from actual practicing certified veterinary technicians. College veterinary technology programs from around New England will also be emphasized with curriculum and specialization options.
